| Comments: | The lush spring/summer growth made Laithbutts Lane difficult in places and the path across Newby Moss wasn't easy to follow. The descent from Ingleborough to the Dales High Way has been upgraded making the descent easier. The path over Moughton Scars into Crummock Dale was difficult to find between the limestone pavement so the route was changed, making directly for Long Scar via the Pennine Bridleway. At this point the rain set in and it was decided to miss out Trow Gill and head directly for Clapdale Drive. Fortunately the rain had eased off for the final part of the walk so that we reached the cars in a reasonably dry condition. |

Beck Head, Clapham Beck emerges from the underground system near the caves entrance
