13 walkers set out from the Station car park crossing the seafront road onto the Promenade behind the Midland Hotel. This was now a gentle walk heading towards Hest Bank on this beautiful sunny morning with far reaching views over to the Lake District Fells. After about 2 miles we made a stop at the now closed Leisure centre and Cafe but were able to make use of the outside dining facilities for our coffee break. Onward after coffee we joined the Lancashire Coastal Way for a short walk along the pebble beach to a point where we crossed the railway line and headed into Hest Bank. We then picked up the Lancaster Canal towpath and headed towards bridge 112 Hammerton Hall Bridge. It was now some road walking where we had to negotiate the now new roadways following the New Heysham Link road sytem, this took us through the local area of Hare Runs. We eventually crossed the A589 to enter a sports ground on the edge of Lancaster overlooking the river Lune, at this point we stopped for our lunch. Onto the Lancashire Coastal way again we picked up an almost straight pathway the former railway system which took us back into Morecambe.
