Four of us took the train from Ainsdale to Waterloo with no idea what we were in for.
The plan was to follow the Sefton Coastal Path from Waterloo station back to Ainsdale, but as we left Waterloo station heading for Crosby beach it very soon became apparent that we were going to struggle. There was a North-West gale-force wind blowing directly into our faces which was almost blowing us off our feet as we struggled to cross Crosby Coastal Park on our way to the coastline. But there was worse to come. By the time we reached the sea front it was very much like walking into a sand storm as the winds blew the sand directly into our faces. We now realized there was no chance of seeing the Crosby Sculptures as hoped or walking the Sefton Coastal Path from here, so an inland route was very quickly devised which we followed back to Ainsdale.
