11 walkers set out from the roadside parking on Lindale Road heading for a turning onto Windermere road then a  left which would take us into Eggerslack Wood. A steady climb through the woods found our exit onto the foot of Hampsfell. Another climb and some great views over the estuary and looking down onto Arnside, we reached the Hospice on Hampsfell for our coffee stop. Now a steady downhill with our destination of Cartmel ahead took us past Pit Farm following the farmland footpaths into Cartmel. Through the Priory grounds and into the village centre to make our way to one of the racecourse crossings and a heading for Walton Hall. We then joined The Cistercian Way passing the intersection of The Cumbrian Way to eventually reach Long Scar. Making a left turn onto a footpath passing Low Bank Side we climbed to a point where we stopped for lunch. After lunch it was steady climbing again on footpaths with our destination now for Birkby Hall. On from the hall we skirted the village of Allithwaite and a footpath to take us up to High Fell Gate. A short road section passing Grange Fell Golf Club we began our decent to reach the outskirts of Grange over Sands and a view of the estuary. Heading down to the promenade we joined the promenade footpath taking us past the station and back onto Lindale Road where we started out. Great walk thanks to Christine.
