Whittle Hills, Leeds Liverpool Canal, Healey Nab, White Coppice, Brinscall, Withnell, Withnell Fold, Hough Hill, Denham Quarry

This walk followed an old route called the Whittle Wander starting at Whittle-le-Woods. After passing under the M61we were soon onto the Leeds Liverpool canal which we followed past Botany Bay. We left the canal to climb Healey Nab where we stopped for our 11’s. Today there were great views to be had across Lancashire.

We left the Nab dropping down to White Coppice and then on to Brinscall where we had lunch. It was then on to Withnell via the old railway line track. From here we crossed fields through Withnell Fold to Top o’ th’ Lane. Fortunately the overnight frost had made the fields much easier to walk through as they were not muddy. We then visited the trig point on Hough Hill before returning to the start.
