It’s the start of the walk from the Old Dungeon Ghyll

Leaving the Langdale valley behind we head down Mickleden with
Bow Fell in the centre and Rossett Pike on the right.

Don’t worry Robb the path doesn’t go straight up. It can be seen sloping up to the left.

Are we nearly there yet?

Typical Lakeland terrain with rookie paths

Watch your feet it’s a bit tricky here

It’s time for a break as we near the top of our climb out of Mickleden

Langdale Valley with Lansdale Pikes on the left and Lingmoor taking centre stage.

Where do we go from here? Our Objective is Great End the little lump of rock in the distance.

But first we have to drop down to Angle Tarn before climbing up again!

Our ascent gave us good views of several peaks,
this is Great Gable with Green Gable to the right plus

The Langdale Pikes followed by . . .

Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England, and finally . . .

Kath with Esk Pike Bow Fell behind it.

The summit of Great End with eight happy faces.

A good walk deserves a good lunch made better by the shelter to escape from the wind.

Heading for home and a stop on Rossett Pike with,

a better view of the Langdale valley . . .
