| Comments: | 6 walkers joined the leader for a pleasant winter walk around the fells to the North West of Burton In Kendal. Walk started from the Parking Area at Plain Quarry heading NE to the hamlet of Hutton Roof where we ascended to Hutton Roof Crags passing Blasterfoot Gap and the Rakes. The ground was snow covered but the paths were disguisable and easy to follow. Stopping briefly for a quick tea break we continued north over the limestone pavements of Newbiggin Crags before reaching the highest point on Farleton Knott. (265m) After the usual group photos we descended the fell following a path down the NW slope of Farleton Fell. Our return route took us along the Lancaster Canal to the village of Holme where we took lunch and then on through Clawthorpe … Dalton and finally back to Plain Quarry. |
