Fifteen walkers took part today starting from Clapham village centre and after a steep climb up Thwaite Lane track we eventually reached Robin Proctors scar where we paused while the leader recounted the legend of how the scar got its name. From here a short walk over fields took us to Norber erratics where we had elevenses while members took photographs of the boulders balancing on limestone.
Then it was on to the open moor following a faint path to the cairn at Long scar. Here there were excellent views of Ingleborough and Penyghent to be had. The track then took us on to Sulber gate where we stopped for lunch in the sunshine with splendid views over Thieves Moss.
From here we made our way through the limestone outcrop to Beggars stile which we crossed to reach the track which took us down the valley to the village of Austwick where we made our way across fields back to Clapham
