Walk: Coupe Green, Brindle Lodge and Roach Bridge
Start Point: New Hall Tavern, Cuerdale Lane, Samlesbury Grid Reference: SD 592 292
Distance: 5.3 miles Ascent: 320 feet
Time: 3 hours    
Weather: Overcast at first becoming sunny and warm mid-morning
Comments: Considering this walk was hastily arranged, twenty four people took part in the walk. Using field paths to reach the River Darwen, the group then followed it down stream to Jolly Fold. From there a short climb and a walk by some allotments found the group on the old Preston to Blackburn road at Coupe Green. Heading towards Gregson Lane via Daub Hall Lane they then meandered along tracks and field paths to reach the grounds of Brindle Lodge. Leaving Brindle Lodge's parkland behind the group re-crossed the old Blackburn road to use field paths towards Coupe Green via 'The Hey' before crossing Beeston Brook on the way to Fleetwood Hall. Here the group joined Roach Road to return to The New Hall Tavern where they enjoyed good food and quick service. The day was improved by having plenty of sunshine and its being dry underfoot. NB. The footpath (No 4) on the approach to Fleetwood Hall is a little confusing. The OS. Map shows a field boundary that no longer exists. The footpath exits the field immediately before a horse paddock on to farm access track that leads to Roach Road
