Walk: Back o’ Bowley, Horse Bowers, Black Hill, Whittle Hall and Dean Clough Reservoir
Start Point: Dog & Otter, Cliffe Lane, Great Harwood Grid Reference: SD 730 330
Distance: 5 miles Ascent: 625 feet
Time: 3 hours    
Weather: Sunny but cool
Comments: After driving through heavy rain and traffic jams the group arrived at the Dog & Otter to find the sun shining. The leader led his twenty five followers on a picturesque walk starting at Dean Lane. After Bowley Scout Camp the lane became a leaf carpeted path on the way down to Dean Bridge. Soon after Heys Farm the group left the track to climb a steep (ish) field at Horse Bowers and then passed through a wood to reach Moor Lane. This elevated, quiet lane afforded views of nearby Billington and a more distant Longridge Fell. Leaving Moor Lane the group passed through Whittle Hall to reach Dean Clough and using the path dividing the two levels returned to the Dog & Otter for a well-earned meal. The food and service were good.
