Seven souls took part in the walk over
undulating meadows and moorland. The route was at first, in a
southern direction on one side of a valley, reaching Botton Head
before turning north on the opposite side of the valley to Crow
Gill. Here, the route then headed east via Mill Bridge to return to
the starting point. The area covered is within the Wray-with-Botton
and Tatham Civil Parishes both of which are in the North East of
Lancashire near to the North Yorkshire boundary. The area is a
picturesque part of Lancashire where the only sound is the soughing
of the wind, bleating of lambs and the odd farmer’s quad bike. On
this occasion the group were treated to the sound of a cuckoo and
skylark plus the sight of swallows and curlews. Bluebells were in
abundance in many of the woods together with other wildflowers in
meadows and hedgerows. An enjoyable walk! |
