Walk: Cowan-Head, Staveley Park, Barley Bridge, Potters Tarn, Mirefoot and Barbon House.
Start Point: Burneside Grid Reference: SD 506 957
Distance: 8.25 miles Ascent: 1,000 feet
Time: 5.25 hours    
Weather: Cool and overcast with a little sunshine. Sleet showers early afternoon.
Comments: Leaving a rainy Lancashire behind, eighteen souls joined the leader for a circular walk via Potters Tarn. Initially the route was flat and followed the River Kent upstream to Staveley. The hard work began at Barley Bridge where the path took a steep upward route to reach Potters Tarn. Here the group stopped for lunch and viewed the snow covered mountains of the Lakes and Howgills. The return to Burneside was mainly down hill and the group was treated to an odd shower of sleet on the way. An enjoyable walk and lucky with the weather.
