Walk: Deepdale Wood, Cringlebarrow Wood, Storr’s Farm, Hyning Home Farm, Hyning Scout Wood and Yealand Conyers
Start Point: The New Inn Grid Reference: SD 504 748
Distance: 5.5 miles Ascent: 458 feet
Time: 3 hours    
Weather: White cloud and mild for March. Dry underfoot.
Comments: Yealand Conyers is to the north of Carnforth. The name of Yealand is thought to be derived from an Anglo Saxon word for high ground. (See www.yealandconyers.org.uk). 
The walk departed from the New Inn which was built circa 1680. Thirty six persons took part in the walk which started with a short climb to Deepdale Wood before passing through Cringlebarrow Wood. The woods still had an autumn look about them, but new spring greenery was beginning to show. The path then descended to lower and more level ground and passed over dry fields and green lanes. The route then rose to the higher ground of Hyning Scout Wood to avoid a busy lane. The latter part of the walk was through the village of Yealand Conyers allowing one to freewheel down to the New Inn.
