On a grey and cold June day fourteen
people and leader Roy, went forth from Clapham. Climbing gradually
the route took them by the way of Norber Brow, passing erratics and
a geocache on the way, to Thwaite Scars. After taking in the ample
views the group descended to walk across Crummack Dale before
ascending to Beggars Stile and Moughton Scars. Lunch was taken on
Moughton Scars where some people regretted changing into lighter
summer attire. However, the cold didn’t prevent them from admiring
the views of Pen-y-ghent Fell, Ingleborough and the massive
limestone pavement. Descended to the area of Austwick Beck Head
using green lanes the group moved on to Wharfe by the way of the
Wash Dub Field. Using more green lanes the leader then took his
party via Austwick on the return to Clapham. Although it was rather
chilly for June it was an enjoyable walk. |
