Walk: Abbey Village towards Withnell, Gortons, nr. Withnell House Farm, Snape Heights, Pike Lowe, Brinscall School, Brinscall Hall, along the Goit to Brinscall village then along the disused railway to Withnell and above the railway back to Abbey.
Start Point: Hare and Hounds Pub, Abbey Village Grid Reference: SD 644 244
Distance: 5.6 miles Ascent: Little
Time: 2.75 hours    
Weather: Very cold and frosty but bright and sunny.
Comments: An ideal day for a winter walk. The walk also well suited for the time of year. There were a few stiles in the early part of the walk. Some field walking but mostly good tracks, firm underfoot. Good views over towards Darwen Tower and pleasant woodland walking along The Goit.
